If you do not follow these format requirements, I will reformat your paper by changing the line spacing, type, margins and font. However, I will not make any other changes to ensure that the page requirements are met. For example, I will not remove extra spacing between paragraphs, and I will not attempt to calculate how much space footnotes, if any, are using up. After making these changes, I will then score your paper following the approach in paragraph 1.In addition to the likely reduced score resulting from the preceding sentences’ impacts, I also will reduce the paper’s final score by 20% to penalize your failure to follow these instructions and to reflect the extra effort your failure has required of me. (Don’t make your “boss’s” job harder by not following instructions!)3. Your use of proper grammar (including sentence and paragraph structure), punctuation and spelling are baseline criteria for your writing scores in this class, and various software tools may help you in this regard (e.g., you should pay attention to the Word misspelling/grammar prompts). Closely related to the foregoing, careful proofreading is essential to an effective essay score. Misspellings, improper punctuation, sentence fragments, and typographical failures, all of which should be easily discerned with appropriate student attention to detail via proofreading, will cause significantly reduced scores. 4. Don’t waste your page-limited space repeating definitions from our textbook or otherwise including long quotations from the textbook, required supporting articles or our Syllabus. You can assume that I have read and understood those definitions and/or know the substance of those quotations.
