Since this is our last module, let’s do something a little different.  Tell me (and everyone else) which topics/modules you found most interesting or informative and if there is any topic we didn’t cover (or didn’t cover much) that you think should get more attention the next time this class is taught  For this discussion, please answer the following (and don’t forget to reply to at least 2 other posters’ responses). Pick two things from this module’s lecture or reading that you found particularly interesting, surprising or noteworthy. What were they and why? For this module, please complete: Read: Textbook  (Links to an external site.) , Chapters 14 and 15 Course Pack: Slide Show: “Seven Things to Know About Climate Change”  (Links to an external site.)  (National Geographic) peer responses  1.- I find it interested, that population decline is as much of a problem as population growth. Well; it does makes since that we need to have a balance as once people get old then we need someone to replace them in a work place and any other areas of service that society demands. However, if population growths; then we face an environmental problem, interpersonal conflicts that effects the way of living. We face economic issue and hostility begging’s to growth as individuals compete for resources. But the question is; how we can balance? How we can go against the natural course of life?   2.- Segregation; this is a subject that always surprise me, because no matter how much we have evolved, this issue remains in our society. I was surprise to find out about neighborhood segregation even after the fair-housing legislation. Although, we can see that there are more mixt neighborhoods, then what we had 40 years ago, the issue still there. One thing I found noteworthy was, “US producing less than 10% of world’s renewable energy sources.” It is pretty sad since one of the world leading powers only produces 10% of the world’s renewable energy. Compared to Germany, who produces over 30% and they plan on increasing that to 80% by the year 2100. Another thing I found interesting is that global warming has the possibility of increasing sea levels by 6-8 feet between now and 2100. As a result, it can permanently displace over 6 million Americans. That can be very concerning because of the huge population the U.S. has along the coastlines. If the sea levels increase, the population along the coast could shift inland and cause people to lose their jobs.
