The assignment needs to be called: Annotated Bibliography. The title should be centered above the list of sources.

Add the date you last accessed the source. For example: Accessed 10 November 2020. The date of access should be the very last item in your citation.

Your Annotated Bibliography will look like a Works Cited page, except that you will be answering three questions quickly underneath each source’s citation. The length of your answers is up to you. But keep in mind that annotations are not papers, so they don’t need to be terribly long. Two or three sentences for each question is fine. You can write more if you like!

For your Annotated Bibliography, you are making notes about texts that you have read. To do this, you will answer three questions about each source. Your answers will be underneath the citation for each source.

Here are the questions to answer. Do not put numbers in your answers. Do not include the questions. Just answer the questions in order.

1. Read each source carefully. Write a short summary of the article/source. The length of the summary is up to you. But this is not a paper! It’s an annotation. That means the summary should be brief. I would say that 2/3 of a page is the maximum length. Two or three sentences will be too short.

If you do not write the summary yourself, then I will know that you have not. Therefore, it is not a good idea to copy from the “abstract,” which is the summary that accompanies an article. Reading the “abstract” instead of the article is… cheating.

2. Do a quick evaluation of the article. Use the “a little bad but mostly good,” or “a little good but mostly bad,” structure. How long should the evaluation be? Not long. 1/2 a page is the maximum. You might be able to get away with a few sentences!

3. Say whether you might use the article in your final paper. If so, why? How could it help your paper? If you don’t think you’ll want to use it, then say why. (If you change your mind later, that’s OK!)
