answer questions
1) Read chapter one in Fibershed by Rebecca Burgess (PDF attached–please note that you need to purchase this book, and further pdfs will not be supplied!). The chapter is entitled The Cost of our Clothes. Read carefully and take notes. Come to class on Feb. 2 prepared to engage in discussion. Don’t wait until the day before class, but rather give yourself a few days to read through the chapter–there is a lot of important content within it. You may want to read sections of it several times.
2) Prepare three questions or comments on the chapter to bring to next class for discussion, and post them to the Moodle.
3) In addition, answer the following questions, and post the answers to the Moodle with your discussion questions from above:
a) What is an endocrine disruptor? What effects do endocrine disruptors have on human health? Where do endocrine disruptors come from in clothing?
b) What are most synthetic fabric dyes made from?
c) Where are there endocrine disruptors in laundry detergents, and what are they?
