*******ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES ARE ALSO ATTACHED AS A MS WORD FILE ALONG WITH THE ORDER*******
SUBJECT OF ASSIGNMENT
• Base your assignment on a personal leadership challenge: a challenging situation, dilemma or conflict that you faced as a manager or team member, where the correct course of action was unclear, and you did not perform as well as you would have liked.
(A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION IS ATTACHED WHICH CAN BE COMPLETELY MODIFIED TO INCLUDE MAXIMUM POINTS FROM THE ATTACHED PDF FILES)
DELIVERABLES
• APA Format; 2,500 words max, double-spaced – INCLUDING executive summary (max. 250 words)
The assignment comprises three parts (which should be submitted in a single document):
1. Case study (max. 1000 words): introduce and explain the leadership challenge in the form of a case study that might be used in a future class on organizational leadership. This case study should provide the appropriate background, context and introduction of the challenge and people involved. It should end at the point in time where a choice or decision is needed (similar to the 5 case studies we have been studying in class). You should be the main protagonist/character in the case. You should write about yourself objectively, in the third person.
2. Case analysis (max. 1500 words): write a case analysis of your own case study, as if you were presenting to yourself as the client. You should approach this in a similar way to the analysis of case studies in the following attached documents
Ø Heifetz & Linsky (2002) A Survival Guide for Leaders
Ø Kim & Mauborgne (2003) Tipping Point Leadership
Ø Kotter J (2007:1995) Leading Change HBR
3. Executive summary (max. 250 words): summarize what the case is about and how the case might be used in teaching a class on organizational leadership. The audience for your summary is a business school professor interested in selecting suitable cases for a course on
organizational leadership.
