b01 Analytical Writing

This assignment comes with two questions. Please write them separately.

Each answer should be about 300-400 words and should include direct quotations from the course readings or videos you are working with.

Clearly indicate which question you are answering!
Do not use outside sources.
Remember to include the names of the authors/artists and title of the works you are discussing in each answer using in-text citation.
Include a Works Cited in APA, Chicago or MLA format for all materials cited.
Each answer = 15 marks x 2 = 30 TOTAL
12 marks for complete answer of the question(s), appropriate and correct use of course materials, demonstrating comprehension of the materials and building your own analysis
3 marks for overall writing style, mechanics (grammar, spelling, syntax, etc.), coherent idea structure, citation and works cited.

Question 1: Answer all 5 parts of this question! Total 300-400 words

So far this semester we have studied Indigenous histories, knowledges and media art as a way to start thinking about the inter-relations of humans, animals, machines (and the environment) and we studied critical data studies in connection with critical race studies and feminist data studies. 1 set of readings link these two sections of our course: The Global Indigenous Alliance Data Alliance “Be FAIR and CARE” readings.

3a) What are the FAIR and CARE principle?

3c) What is the difference between them?

3d) Why were the CARE principles developed?

3e) What does the Indigenous date sovereignty movement contribute to critical data studies?
