Paper #1 Criteria
You have chosen a topic/Philosophy from out of our class readings which you have approved with Dr. Soden. Now you set to work writing an essay on the Philosophy, Philosopher and their thoughts on the matter at hand.
Style
Chicago style (the standard form for Philosophy writing). Particularly the Notes/Bibliography style.
Paper should be 3-5 pages when complete (excluding cover page and Bibliography)
Have two outside academic sources besides the primary source already being used from class.

Sign in using your school account. Just choose the college under institution. Jstor has the best archive on academic philosophy essays and paper on every topic.

Flow
Introduction
Explain the philosopher and why you chose them. What work of theirs you plan to focus on and how you plan to structure the rest of the paper.
Body
Now set to work quoting them and explaining the context of what they said. Give interpretations and show that they are consistent with the intended meaning of the Philosopher.
Bring in some other voices into the conversations. Include a few outside sources here but remember, they are helping you make your points.
Conclusion
Reflect on what you found out while exploring the philosopher or philosophy. Ponder an applications, further questions or points of clarity that you found.
