Bowling Reflective Essay Assignment

You are to write a 1 ½ -3 page reflective essay paper, 12 point font, double spaced, on your experience, thoughts, and performance in bowling. Your grade will be based on your ability to accurately analyze and reflect on your bowling experiences and performance.

Your introduction should reflect on your bowling skills and experience prior to this course. Your reflection must include but not limited to how often did you bowl recreationally with your family, league, etc.? Were you a beginning or advanced bowler? Did you enjoy bowling? Were you relaxed/confident in the course?

The body of your paper should reflect on your bowling skills during class. Your paper must include but not limited to the following: Your grip-did you place your fingers and thumb in the ball properly? Did you support the ball by holding it with both hands when positioning yourself to bowl. Your stance-did you find a starting position on the approach that you used often in class? How was your approach (walk) prior to releasing the ball? Did you start by standing at the foul line or did you take 3-4 steps prior to releasing the ball? Did you focus on the bowling pins or target arrows/dots? Based on the bowling video (see link below), how closely did your approach resemble the video. Did you go over the foul line often? Delivery- Was your last step with the foot opposite of your bowling hand? At the end point of your bowl, did your arm extend upward (follow-through) and above your shoulder level.

Your conclusion should include your overall strengths and weakness in bowling. You are to give specific strategies and recommendations on how to improve in each area that needs work. You are to end your paper with statements on the benefits of bowling as a recreational activity and your appreciation for bowling as a sport.
