Cause and effect
Write a 5-7 page cause and effect essay. This is a formal essay.
Here are some criteria:
It should be 5-7 typed, double-spaced pages.
It should follow MLA format.
It should use evidence from at least three quality sources.
It should include at least one quote, one paraphrase, and one summary.
It should have a Works Cited page (which does NOT count as part of the total page count).
You may choose your own topic (as long as the essay is not about cell phones, childhood obesity, bullying, or overtly political topics). Please run the topic by me first.
Some possible topics might be
Why are so many Americans depressed? (causes of depression in Americans)
Why are so many Americans stressed? (causes of stress in Americans)
How can a person achieve happiness? (causes of happiness)
How can a person achieve success? (causes of success)
Can a person’s upbringing affect his/her life? (It could be true environment, family, or something else.)
How does stress affect a person? (effects of stress)
What is the value of friendship? (How do friendships affect people?)
What is the power of art? (Is art necessary?) (positive and negative results/effects of art)
Are video games more beneficial or detrimental? (You could also just choose benefits or detriments….but go for the gold!)
Are sports necessary? (positive and negative effects)
Choose a non-profit organization. How does that non-profit benefit society? (good effects)
Should Nashville extend its public transit system? (positive and negative effects)
Is winning the lottery a positive or negative thing?
