character narrative
For this assignment, you will pick one character from the text provided by Mrs. Matos and write a personal narrative from that character’s perspective (first person point of view) that explains the way he/she responded to a social injustice. Write in the voice of that character by representing his/her thoughts and feelings and by using his/her word choices. In order to accurately portray the character, use the text to make inferences about his/her character traits. Your narrative will recount the character’s journey all the way through the story — beginning, middle, and end. Be sure to address the following in your narrative:
the cause of the conflict
the influence of the setting on the conflict
the lesson learned from the character’s experience (theme)
Your character’s personal narrative may be in the following formats, or in another format approved by Mrs. Matos:
a collection of journal or diary entries
a letter to another character
an interview with the character on a podcast (written script will be submitted)
