Therefore, the advisory group’s roles are collecting data and feedback from the lower socioeconomic community and performing data analysis to identify the tendency of the progress of heart disease. Also, the representatives

It is significant to educate people who have had heart attacks about healthy diets to prevent further attacks, but also it is essential to educate people who have the risk to prevent the occurrence of heart attacks. The type of dietary education could include education sessions on healthy food choices for people who had heart attacks, dietary consultation for people who have cardiovascular diseases or at risk of heart diseases, and advertisement of the healthy diet and prevention of heart attacks. The education courses could be provided in the community centers weekly, and dietary consultations could be provided in the community through health fairs for everyone. The effectiveness of teaching could be impacted by the client’s readiness to learn, the client’s perceptions, and the educational environment (Rector, 2018). Therefore, in the education sessions, inviting guest speakers who are modifying their lifestyle to managing their health after a heart attack could increase people’s interest in learning about the choices of a healthy diet. Also, having dietitians comes to the education sessions to provide professional advice could enhance the reliability. Moreover, it is essential to provide dietary education to the family members of the individuals who have had heart attacks because family support could strengthen their abilities to manage their disease. Moreover, distributing flyers about heart-healthy diet choices could help people learn about the management of heart attack. To determine the extent of the impact of heart disease among those of the lower socioeconomic groups would require extensive research about the community. This is where the advisory group and representatives from the target community become an effective tool. Because they know their community well, they would be able to provide information to the community health nurse where most of the heart attack cases would be located. Rector (2018) states “An advisory group can help identify the problem, assist in selecting appropriate intervention to address the problem, and evaluate the intervention chose.” (p. 452). This would save a lot of time, energy, and resources that the community health nurse would be expending in determining the extent of the growing number of heart disease patients (Rector, 2018).

As a community health nurse, I believe there should be a major focus on preventive care. We can prevent and detect serious heart disease before it becomes life-threatening. Preventive care not only can save many lives, but it can also save a lot of money on treatments (Rector, 2018). I would allocate 40% of the grant money to be used in the public school system to educate children and young adults. The education objectives include the benefits of exercising, what type of food is heart-healthy (vegetables, fruits, fiber-rich whole grain, fish, nuts, legumes, and seeds), the effects of heart disease, how to recognize stroke/heart attack, and what to do in case of such an event (How to Help Prevent Heart Disease At Any Age, 2015). Another 30% of the grant money I would allocate to programs for food assistance to individuals or families who may not have access to affordable healthy foods. The last 30% of the grant money would go into cardiac rehabilitation centers for individuals who have suffered from a stroke or heart attack. The goal is to assist them in returning to ADL, educate them on healthy food choices as mentioned above, managing their medications, and exercise counseling base on individual needs (What is Cardiac Rehabilitation, 2016).
