Concert Report Short Paper

Assignment Instructions:

Using an Internet or cable/satellite source, select and view a live performance (or a recording of a live performance) that features either concert (“classical”) music or jazz. The performance should include at least three musical selections (see detailed instructions below). Write a two-page essay in Microsoft Word or a compatible word processing application (double spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font, and 1” margins). Include a title for your report. No reference page is required unless you consult additional sources for background information

Organize your essay as follows:

Introductory paragraph/Background: Name of group or artist, genres (styles of music) performed, date and location of the performance, and titles of the pieces you will discuss in your report.
Musical Discussion of Selected Pieces: Choose three musical selections from the performance; write one paragraph for each musical selection. Select at least three of the most relevant elements of music for each piece for discussion -How are the elements of music used to express the main ideas or emotions associated with the composition?
Concert Venue and Audience: Did the venue enhance or detract from your musical experience? Describe the audience (large or small, whether or not people were engaged by the musical performance, demographics, etc.).
Your Opinion of the Performance Experience: Was it an enjoyable and/or successful performance (why or why not)?
Include a signed Honor Code statement at the end of the assignment.
