Why is critique of research articles essential for using research findings in practice?

Problem Statement:Catheter associated urinary tract infection is the most common nosocomial infection, however, it is also the most avoidable. Inappropriate use of Foley catheter increases patient’s risk of getting urinary tract infection. Often times in practice, geriatric patient’s and/or family members requests insertion of Foley catheter for convenient purposes, therefore nurses should educate patients and their family members on appropriate indicators for Foley catheter placements.
