Cultural Artifact-Advertising
Discussion Post leaders for this week, please post your cultural artifact discussion following the assignment guidelines. Think of a blog post when you are creating this assignment. Your post should contain at least three of the following or a combination thereof, i.e. pictures, links to relevant videos, embedded videos, links to websites, newspaper or journal articles or reports or other audio/visual material. These should be used to help you illustrate the points you are making. In this assignment, you will analyze your chosen cultural artifact according to the following questions:
1. How does the chosen artifact influence or is influenced by a particular mass medium discussed in the course text, e.g. TV, radio, film etc.?
2. How does your cultural artifact relate to the concepts in the textbook i.e. how does it help us to understand the different dimensions of a specific medium as discussed in a particular chapter of the textbook?
3. In what ways has the chosen artifact influenced American or global popular culture, e.g. has it started any new trends, has it changed the way we view things etc.?
4. What is the political value of the artifact, e.g. Is the artifact helping to challenge existing stereotypes or the status quo in general? Is the chosen artifact reflective of any cultural values or beliefs?
5. What is the appeal of the chosen cultural artifact to audiences?
