Describe Learned Theories and how they apply to IDS careers
Interdisciplinary studies is the study of 2 or more disciplines within one degree. It is like using skills from an office job as a receptionist to your advantage and applying those same customer service skills at a pizza shop.
These are the only guidelines provided by the professor:
First, using three to four sentences per theory, describe four learning theories that you learned during your interdisciplinary learning. For each theory, name the theorist and define the theory.
Next, explain how and why the theories can be used in your career. Offer details about how the theories you studied will allow you to create a framework that supports problem-solving in your future career. How will these theories support you in being an effective interdisciplinary skills-based leader?
The four theories that should be addressed are the following:
1. Humanistic Theory (Use Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as the main focus)
2. Sociological Exchange theory (Use the idea of thinking in economic terms such as “worth my time”, “invested all of this time” ( Relational worth) )
3. Attribution theory (example to use: if someone goes to get coffee, they will be late…)
4. Systems theory (Everything is interconnected.. just like Interdisciplinary thinking!)

In the analysis part of the assignment, instead of focusing on one future career, instead, discuss how all of these theories can be applied in multiple settings. (No personal current career plans yet). Therefore, focusing on how usable and helpful these theories are in various careers and workplaces such as pizza restaurants, law offices, owning a small business, etc.
