Patients have easier access to their medical records, especially if they forget what type of medications they are taking.
The disadvantages is the leak of the patient privacy. The risk of unauthorized party gathering the patient information without the knowledge of the provider or patient. Sending medical information to insurance company causing major problems with their benefits and health care. Another issues would be, maintaining the software to keep up with the demand of electronic health care records. Within o-ur government, the State Public Health Department has certain functions they are in charge of and some functions that uses the same resources and share certain responsibilities within the Federal, State, Local departments. Public health governance structures does vary from state to state. In the State Public Health Department area they have significant guidance when it comes to healthcare delivery and public health in through their departments and organizations such as health, insurance, education and social services.(Young, Kroth, 2018) States function as regulators of health insurance companies, licensors and regulators of health professionals , regulators of quality of care in state-licensed facilities and has functions as analysts of healthcare cost and quality (p.310). Another function of the State Public Health Department they provide guidance to the CDC and Prevention and their role is informing and evaluating policies to prevent injuries and violence through active participation in the policy processes in the CDC. Many states also handle mental health institutions, support medical and other health professional schools when it comes to funding. (Young, Kroth, 2018). The primary sources of the state health department funding included federal support (53 percent) & state general funds is about (24 percent). Now when we look into the local/city public health department some of this department functions handle more of the disease surveillance & tracking services, and Public Health Education/ Promotion. For example, the city public health department assist when the state passes down policies that has been evaluated within the CDC, the city keeps record tracking of it and how it is going within the city and make reports to send back to the State Public Health department. Another layout function is when the state approves or matches certain funding to the schools, the city public health helps put towards Health and Public Health Education/ Promotion and provides immunization services for them locally.
