There are many moments of disguise throughout the Odyssey. Both the gods and Odysseus often disguise themselves, and we also know of Odysseus’ history of disguise in Troy when he sneaks into the city disguised as a beggar. There are also many moments when the characters do not reveal themselves and maintain the status of “stranger” until they are asked by their hosts who they are and where they come from.
