Section I-In this section, an overview of what constituted a developmentally appropriate curriculum from a theoretical perspective was investigated. Access of research or scholarly sources (NOT internet sites) were used to support this section which could include the textbook. A minimum of at least five (5) research/scholarly sources were utilized and reflected in this section.
Section II- A detailed description from the administrative perspective described what must be considered when choosing a curriculum and assessment system. This included what strategy an administrator must take to arrange the environment and systems to bring people together around shared interests, curiosities, and reflections regarding curriculum choice and implementation. A description of how the administrator would facilitate interactions, connect staff with one another, mediate conflicts, and scaffold learning for staff was discussed. Included in the information was a description of how curriculum and assessment choice was based on professional standards and how children’s individual outcomes were considered. A choice of certain curriculum(s) and assessments should have been listed in this section but should not be the entire focus. The reader understood the writer’s process of consideration when choosing, developing strategies, and implementing curriculum and assessments. A minimum of at least three (3) research/scholarly sources were utilized and reflected in this section.
Section III- Utilizing the State Guidelines for the state in which you live (if your state is without guidelines, utilize Illinois’s State Guidelines) and based on the curriculum selection(s), the writer explained how the program will make the best use of these guidelines but still remain true to best practices, to the needs of young children, to the philosophy of Developmentally Appropriate Practice, and to doing what’s right for children. Use of the Gronlund text (pp. 5-6) provided a framework and was cited as well as other sources used to write this section. A minimum of at least two (2) research/scholarly sources (which included the textbook) was utilized and reflected in this section.
Section IV- Discuss and support a rationale for how the program and staff would develop and or implement training and resources to support teachers in the appropriate use of technology to improve children’s learning. This includes considerations of teachers caring out technology expectations in the classroom for instruction and assessment. Consider how integrating technology into working with young children in ways that are developmentally appropriate. A minimum of at least three (3) research/scholarly sources should be utilized and reflected in this section. Resources accessed will be cited in-text and a complete listing at the end of the paper will be provided on a reference page using APA 5th edition writing style.
Section V- The writer described strategies that would enhance family and community involvement with curriculum. A strong feeling of community within and outside of a program comes from meaningful connections people have to each other. Strategies were considered that an administrator could use to help people get more connected to each other to support program curriculum. A minimum of at least three (3) research/scholarly sources should be utilized and reflected in this section.
