Now that we have read a story as a class (Unauthorized Bread by Cory Doctorow) and you have read your own independent books, it is time to apply your knowledge of one of the stories to create your own Netflix series pitch. You may create your Netflix series based on Unauthorized Bread or your independent novel. You should not do both.

Your Netflix series must be at least 4 episodes long. The maximum is 6 episodes. You must use the template provided. You should make a copy of the template in your own drive. Your Netflix series must also include a summary of the show, pictures for each episode, and a “More like this” page where you make suggestions for viewers to watch similar shows (minimum 4 connections). To see examples of already existing Netflix series, visit this page.

You must complete the planner below prior to working on your final draft.

NETFLIX SERIES PLANNER

What is the title of your show? (i.e. what book are you making a Netflix series for?)

The name of my book is the play book

Summarize your story in 4-7 sentences. What will your show be about? Who are the main characters? What is the main conflict? How will you attract your viewers/make them want to watch your show?

Which actors/actresses will you have starring in your show?

What genre will this show be? (i.e. fiction, non fiction, action, adventure, comedy, drama, etc.)

This show is… (use at least 3 reaction words to describe your show’s mood)

(ex. Thrilling, exciting, inspiring, emotional, terrifying, investigative, etc.)

EPISODES (CONSIDER 4-6 OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE STORY)

Episode 3:

What will your episode be about? Which characters will be focused on? What is the major conflict? Setting? What is the main event?
