Finally, on Sunday, we went to a 5K marathon. By the end of the day, my legs were very tired. I only hope that next weekend can be as fun as this one.

Many people are moving to the rural parts of the island. They understand it is impossible to drive to work early in the morning because of the traffic congestion. In addition, they complain that the vegetables treated with chemical additives causes them to feel sick. Lastly, the fast and busy city life exhausts them, leaving them without the energy to enjoy the entertainment a large city supposedly offers.

3. The first major change was moving to Mayaguez, a remote area where you can hear the solitude of the road. My new home was a big farm with the unique sounds of the night. The coquis, the cows mooing, the strange clapping of the trees, and the cackling sounds of hens and roosters did not help me sleep for months. I was now living in a new and distant cultural place that also gave me unique experiences.

4. Another major change was participating in the different traditions of this island, such as the holiday menus and the parrandas. These were opportunities for family and friends to share, sing, dance, and of course to eat and eat. These reunions were very different from the quiet celebrations that I was used to. For example, I discovered that the rest of the year offered many other traditions to party on, something that is cultural for the Puerto Ricans, for they are very happy people. Yes, learning about celebrations showed me that socializing was a distinct feature of Puerto Ricans.
