Explanation:
“Source material” refers to the original source that a student reads and is using in their essay. Then, that source material is followed by student examples using that source material in their own essays. Your task is to determine whether this excerpt is plagiarized and give your reason for saying “yes” or “no.”
Your response should look like this:

Student Version A (Is it plagiarized? Yes or No. A sentence or two explaining why.)

In preparation for beginning to draft the essay, write a 250- to 500-word proposal for Essay 1. In this proposal, in paragraph form (rather than just listing answers) answer the following questions:

What is the main question related to this source that your essay will highlight?
Why is this question a strong question for an essay?
What additional source(s) will you use? How will this source (or these sources) serve to “yes, and” or “yes, but” an idea in your primary source? In other words, how will this source (or these sources) help you develop an idea that extends and goes beyond the idea in the primary text? What sorts of things would you like to keep in mind in the process of drafting your essay?
