Financial Sustainability Plan

The third assignment: Financial Sustainability Plan – A non-profit must have the ability to maintain over the long-term. Understanding financial capacity is crucial to the agency’s business structure and revenue structure. Understanding the long term agency goals guides economic resiliency. Maintenance of quality staff, quality programming and outcome achievement must also be a part of the plan.

Throughout the semester, students will be expected to develop the components of their agency sustainability plan. The text book should be used as a guideline for the format and structure; however, students may choose to develop the outline based on the perspective agency needs/specifications.

Paper Format:

Section 1: Agency Structure Design (should be improved from original submission based on lectures, research and class discussions) i.e. assignment one

Section 2: List of Funding Sources (complete list of ten unduplicated)

Section 3: Sustainability Plan narrative should include but not be limited to a discussion of: needs of the agency/community, agency budget justification, cost to sustain needs, in-kind donations, current resources, additional community partners/partnerships, board members, innovative fund raising strategies, diverse funding sources (use info from assignment two), staff/program expansion projections, agency potential growth and expansion, income from service fees, membership fees and stakeholders.

Include check points for tracking accountability and alternative funding strategies for grants not awarded or funding not received.

Section 4: Three Year Budget which allows for inflation, salary increases, benefits, retirement, etc. Using the year one budget in assignment one, complete budgets for years two and three. Project the needs/growth of your agency and staff based on the reliability of the funding sources you chose.
