“Hero” Short story topic
English Literature Assignment: Minimum of 250 words
– Can you think of a person who would not typically be considered a hero, but whose actions have contributed toward a change in the future either by their direct actions, or by helping others?
Prompt:
– It isn’t the grandeur of a person that makes them a hero, but his or her actions (small or large) that make the person grand. To start the adventure, the hero must make the decision to cross the threshold and move from a familiar world, to the unknown. In “Zlateh the Goat,” Aaron literally crosses the threshold to enter his hero’s journey when he makes the decision to do what his father has asked him to do even though he doesn’t want to. In doing so, he takes the first step in better understanding what is important to him, and standing up for those values. Aaron doesn’t have the typical physical “super” powers, but he does have other powers.
