How do DACA students get through college

Here are the instructions for the class. (We had to interview someone but i didn’t get to do it. Can you just make up an interview in the essay? You can say I interviewed a friend or something)

College Success Project Essay Guidelines
Overall Essay Instructions
Write an essay that explains and supports your position on an issue related to college success. Support a thesis statement with evidence from an interview and at least one course reading assignment.

Length
Try to write about three double-spaced pages. The length of your assignment will depend on your topic and the evidence required for supporting and developing your main point.

Title
Include an original title that introduces readers to the topic of your essay.

Introduction
In the first paragraph, introduce the topic of your essay (the issue that you investigated through research). Your introduction should be at least one fully developed paragraph.

Thesis Statement
Write a thesis statement. Put it at the end of the introduction.

The thesis statement should:

state the main point of the essay
explain your own thinking about the topic that you explored through research
help readers understand what you learned about your topic by conducting research.

Introduce Your Interview Research
Explain how you conducted your interview research:

How did you do the interviews (in person, over the phone, through skype, a group interview, etc.)?
Who did you interview?
What is the background of the people that you interviewed? Why are they qualified to discuss the topic of your essay?
Include information about your research as part of the introduction or as a separate section after the thesis statement. If you interviewed a few different people, it might be easier to write a separate paragraph.

Organizing Each Body Paragraph Around a Main Point
Focus each paragraph on just one topic that helps to support and develop your main point.
At the beginning of each paragraph, include a topic sentence that helps readers understand the main point of the paragraph. Each topic sentence should:
State the main point of the paragraph
Focus on your own thinking about the topic of the paragraph (and not just the thinking of your interview subjects or authors of course readings)
Help readers see a connection between the paragraph and your thesis statement.

Support the Main Point of Each Paragraph with Evidence
In each body paragraph, include a few different pieces of evidence to support and develop the main point of the paragraph and your overall main point. Your project needs two types of evidence:

Examples from an interview
Quotes and examples from assigned class readings or online research
You may also use evidence from your own experience.

NOTE: Library research is not required for this assignment. However, you may also use readings that you find through your own research. Check with the instructor to make sure that your research sources are trustworthy and appropriate for college writing.

Introduce Ideas from Interviews and Readings
Make sure that readers can tell the difference between ideas from sources and your own thinking. Use signal phrases to introduce evidence from the interview and course readings (for example, my cousin argues that, Hazel Markus explains that or Mellow states that).
Introduce each source by giving the full name of the author or interview subject. After introducing the full name, use the last name.
For the readings, include the title.

Analyze Evidence from Sources
Analyze and explain each piece of evidence from an interview or assigned reading. Make a connection between each piece of evidence and the main point of the paragraph. Help readers see how your evidence helps to support and develop your thesis statement.

Introduce Your Essay with an Author’s Note
The final draft of the essay should include an author’s note that describes your writing process and what you learned from the project. You will complete your author’s note as an assigned activity for one of the course modules.

Optional: Create a Works Cited List or Other Bibliography
You will learn how to create a works cited list later in the course. However, if you already know how to do an MLA works cited list or APA reference list, you can create one for this project.
