International Relations, COVID-19, and Climate Change connections
Two prompts that need to be answered. Responses will be between 700-1000 words long per each questions.
COVID-19 and IR
1- Is pandemic disease a threat to national security? Is President Trump’s administration treating COVID-19 crisis as a threat to national security? Provide an analysis of the government’s response to the current situation by which we are all affected. Keep your response focused on the nexus of pandemic disease and national security. Do not get carried away by other aspects of the matter which are admittedly plenty.
Climate Change and International Relations
2- Scientific climate change models almost unanimously contend that we are moving toward an irreparable environmental disaster steadily and quickly. What can we draw from various IR paradigms in this regard? In your response, compare and contrast the responses one can elicit from two paradigms of your choice. You may pick from Realism, Liberalism, Constructivism, English School, Marxism, Feminism, and Post-Modernism. Any engagement with the problem from any angle is acceptable as long as it employs theoretical insights correctly and consistently.
