NOTE: The sources you use matter a lot since not all of them are objective and academic in scope.
This research paper asks you to examine some dimension of immigration. This could include a more in-depth study of various immigrant groups, such as European immigrants, those from African regions, or some specific group (e.g. Italians, Irish, German). You might also want to explore the refugee problem facing the world, such as the problems in Syria or the response to the refugee crisis by various countries.
In whatever topic you choose, it is imperative that you offer a review of the available literature. This includes an overview of immigration in the United States in general (the Pew Research Center is a good source and has a lot of information about various groups), a historical account of that particular group’s experiences in the United States, as well as a current profile of that group.
In addition, you should examine the role of the criminal justice system in the treatment of these groups, both historically and currently. For example, it is often the case that immigrants are discriminated against by various groups and individuals, who feel justified in mistreating them. In fact, laws are sometimes passed prohibiting certain behaviors of immigrants, which also serves to justify the social mistreatment they experience. In your analysis it is important to not only note how your particular group has been or is currently being treated, you should also attempt to place those experiences in a particular context—is this unique to that group or is there a pattern that emerges against everyone who is not in the majority? Also, explain the reasons for such mistreatment: is it fear, a longstanding sense of superiority over minority groups, human nature, or some other reason? Thus, the examination of your topic should be with an eye towards telling the larger story, not just about your particular group of people.
This paper is due on or before the last day of class. For each day it is late, a letter grade reduction will be imposed. It must be properly formatted in Word, double spaced, one inch margins, and follows APA guidelines for citations. This means content notes in the body of the paper as well as a full references page at the end. It should be not less than fifteen pages, not including the title page and abstract pages.

Also, make sure it includes a current assessment of that group as well as their historical immigration experiences.
