Media Paper – Deviance and Social Control
Please choose, locate, and watch one of the videos or movies below and write a three page paper summarizing how as the piece of popular culture or mass media influences our views of what and who is deviant, who and what is a victim of circumstances and/or free will, and what are the mechanisms and structures of social control. As with your term paper, make sure you have a clear thesis (the argument about your topic), and after making your case return to your thesis in the strongest conclusion and examine it anew – did you make your case? What else do we need to know to understand the issues better, or what might be other ways of studying the issues? The strongest conclusion includes no or less new material, but is the “so what?” is your paper is the “what” of your argument.
