Media Programming Strategies

In this exercise you will select a streaming service or broadcast channel to profile. You will research this distributor and write a paper explaining their identity, target audience and demographics, how they attempt to reach those audiences and demographics, if they are effective at reaching them, and what, if anything, you would change about the distributor.

You will be graded on individual work, however, I suggest you find someone in class to peer review your work, and you review in return. The reason for having help on this project is so that you can work with each other to analyze your distributor, determine their effectiveness, and consider any ideas you might not have thought of on your own.

What could they do to strengthen their identity?
What audience and/or demographic are they trying to appeal to?
How effective are they?
What audiences or demographics are not being served or represented by this distributor?
What are the strengths of this distributor?
What would you change about this distributor?

12-point font
You must address every question and section in these instructions
You must submit a Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF to Canvas

Grading

You will be grading on completion of instructions and depth of thought and analysis. You must address of every section and question in these instructions, but how much time and space you spend on each is up to you. Be sure your ideas are fully articulated and explained, and supported with solid reasoning and references where appropriate. You do not need to supply a sources list or footnotes in this paper but it will be difficult to earn a good grade without doing some research and reading about your distributor before you begin writing.
