Business Plan Template:
For this assignment, I have provided a Business Plan Template (see “Small Business Plan Template” in Module 3) to outline which sections will be required for each part of the assignment (and which will be excluded). You will also find some additional notes for select sections. Part 1 of your Business plan will cover sections 1 (Introduction), 3 (History), 4 (Description of the Business), & 7 (Ownership and Management Structure).
You will also need to add information to your Appendixes (section 10) throughout your project. Appendixes might include items such as resumes of key employees, equipment lists, financial projections and budgets, market research, references, etc. For additional examples, please see the sample Small Business Plan included in the textbook.
Additional Requirements:
No minimum word count is required, however your submission is expected to be as thorough as possible.
Formatting and organization should follow the example in the book. Headings MUST be used.
Writing should be clear and concise, follow the guidelines listed under “Writing the Plan” (pg. 148)
Any references (if used) should be in APA formatting.
Content is expected to be original and display analytical and critical thinking skills.
“Writing the Plan”
1. Be honest, not only by avoiding outright lies, but also by revealing what you actually feel about the significant and relevant aspects of the plan.
2. Use the third person, not the first person (“I” or “we”). This practice forces you to think clearly and logically from the other person’s perspective.
3. Use transitional words, such as but, still, and therefore, and active, dynamic verbs as a means of leading the reader from one thought to another.
4. Avoid redundancies, such as “future plans”; repetition adds nothing to the presentation.
5. Use short, simple words, where feasible, so the plan will be easy to understand and follow.
. Use visuals, such as tables, charts, photos, and computer graphics to present your ideas effectively.
Grading Criteria
Part 1 of your small business plan is worth 50 total points based on the following:
Displays Critical Thinking and Analysis Skills (10 Points)
Thoroughly addresses all parts of the assignment (30 Points)
Follows correct formatting and displays quality writing (10 Points)
