Module 0: Project 1 – Memo Reports

Overview

A memo on Teamwork & Collaboration on Projects (especially written projects)

Using the materials assigned for this class, you will work to write 1-page, single-spaced memos. You can imagine your audience as other students in this class and future sections of this class who may need help with collaborating and providing peer review. Your memos, then, will consist of advice and guidelines for your classmates. Use this Memo Writing Sample

When your write the memos consider: (In university)

What the assigned course materials say about teamwork, collaboration, and peer feedback.
Your own experiences with teamwork, collaboration, and peer review. If you had successful teamwork, what helped this happen? If you had negative experiences with teamwork, then in hindsight, what would you have done differently?
What your classmates say in discussion posts and in feedback to you.
Your audience. Think about who your audience is, their expectations, what they need from each memo, how they might read each memo, how they might use each memo.

NOTE: When you write your memos, you can quote selectively from sources, but don’t over-do direct quotations from your sources. Rather, paraphrasing in your own words might be more effective.

Criteria

I will evaluate your project using the following criteria:

Synthesis of Assigned Materials – Were you able to create documents that synthesized and integrated various perspectives (from materials, your experiences, and from each other) effectively?
Useful information for audience – Do these documents provide your audience useful information and guidelines?
Correct Memo formatting and document design – Do these documents demonstrate correct formatting, as provided by the materials assigned?
Clarity and brevity – Is the writing clear and succinct?
Grammar and mechanics – Is your writing mostly grammatically correct and error-free?
