Module 4 Assignment: Polycategoric Mind Maps
Your progress
• Introduction
Now it is time to integrate and demonstrate what you have learned during the completion of Module 4, Introduction to Radiant Thinking. You can submit your assignment at the bottom of this page.
Instructions
• Create one Polycategoric Mind Map that utilizes colour, images, words and drawings around the subject “open thinking”.
• Create a second Create a polycategoric Mind Map on one of the following categories:
o Personal
o Problem-solving
o Family
o Educational
o Business & Professional
o Presentations
o Meetings
o Management
• These mind maps will demonstrate the information you have learned from Module 4. You are also encouraged to integrate pertinent information from Modules 1-3.
• Send these maps as an attachment to your Open Learning Faculty Member by electronic means. You can send the attachment as a Word file or as a jpeg file. Sending the attachment in another format should be discussed and approved by your Open Learning Faculty Member before the assignment due date.
• If you want to scan a drawing or image and you do not have the resources to do this, there are many copying services that can do this for you. For example, Kinko’s and Mail Boxes can scan and save your image so that it can be used in other computer programs. Many photo- processing shops also offer this service to save images as jpegs.
• Alternatively, you may want to use a draw program on your computer. Remember to export your image as a jpeg from this program to your computer desktop before sending it to your Open Learning Faculty Member. Contact him or her if you are running into technical problems.
• Deliver the assignment to your Open Learning Faculty Member by electronic means at the end of the time allocated for Module 4. Your Open Learning Faculty Member will have noted in the course calendar the specific due date for this assignment.
Remember the importance of taking time to reflect when creating a mind map. Also, do not forget the reasons why a mind map does not have to appear “perfect”.
Assignment Criteria…
• You must meet the guidelines for satisfactory completion of assignments. Is your material well-organized, properly labeled and clear?
• Parts 1 & 2 must include the requested components such as including multiple categories (polycategoric), images, words, colour, etc.
• The mind maps must be clear enough for your Open Learning Faculty Member to read.
• You must demonstrate openness of thinking, an increase in radiant thinking, and a comprehension of and appropriate application of mind mapping techniques.
• Remember if your initial images sizes (jpegs, etc.) are very large, you can make them smaller before submitting them.
