Nursing: Labor & Delivery Paper
Expectations: Students will choose a career field in nursing or a specific job path in nursing that they are interested in learning more about. (Example: medical-surgical nurse, surgical nurse, labor and delivery nurse, intensive care unit/critical care nurse, emergency department nurse, oncology nurse, advanced practice nurse/nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, pediatric nurse, home health nurse, hospice nurse, public health nurse, forensic nurse, neonatal nurse, school nurse, etc.—there are many more options.)
Once the student identifies their area of interest, they should: *Identify the role of the nurse within the chosen field. *Determine the level of education required for the nurse to work in their chosen field. *List any special qualifications/degrees/certifications that are needed by the nurse to practice in the field. *Identify the types of facilities the nurse would work in. *Determine the population groups the nurse would care for (who will the nurse take care of). *List the various roles of the nurse in the field of work. *Determine the demand for nurses in the field and average pay. *Share any other interesting facts about the field of interest.
This is a formal paper and should be written as such. It should be a minimum of 500 words- maximum 700 words. Documents should include a title page, be double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, and 1” margins in Page Layout settings. It should include an introduction, body of paper, and a conclusion. References should be cited throughout the paper. It also should include a reference page of sources used for the paper. 2 or more credible references/sources are required and those sources must have been written within the last 10 years. A reference page should be included. References cited in the paper and on the reference page should follow APA format. An example of how to use APA format is posted in Canvas.
