Outline the argument (don’t write the paper yet!) of a paper addressing the following scenario: two patients are dying of coronavirus. The hospital has only one ventilator. The patient profiles: (1) a 43-year-old divorced man with two children. He has mild hypertension, and some signs of elevated low-density cholesterol. His family has some history of skin cancer, but nothing major. He works as a physician’s assistant out of state. (2) a 25-year-old woman. Never married. No children. About 50 pounds overweight, but blood pressure still normal. Cholesterol normal. Her mother died of pneumonia when she contracted the flu five years ago.
Which one gets the ventilator, and why?
