Write a persuasive research paragraph. Your paper must be written in response to a scholarly article or a chapter of an academic book that addresses one of the following questions:
Psychology: What is the effect of cognitive biases upon decision making?
Criminology: What is the effectiveness of current methods for deterring people from criminal acts in Canada or the United States?
In addition to the scholarly text that you are responding to, you will need to draw upon other research to support your argument.
Audience
Assume that the audience of your essay is a professor who is an expert in the field, and who is somewhat familiar with the topic you are writing about, but who is not necessarily aware of the particular scholarship you are finding in your research.
This professor is looking to evaluate your knowledge of the subject and your understanding of the discipline’s methods, so you will need to clearly define any technical terms that you use.
