Now, once you’ve spent time reviewing the Persuasive Values Speech Assignment, you’ll then choose your “value” (topic) from the extensive list below, and post your responses to the prompts listed here. You definitely don’t want to rush this part of the planning stage, as you’ll need to “live” with this decision for the rest of the class session.
When you’re ready then, develop the following into a paragraph format and post in the discussion board:
Your choice of topic/value from the provided list (see below)
A specific persuasive purpose statement (review Chapter 6 of the e-text)
An explanation of your connection to the topic. You want to describe your personal relationship with the value you chose. In other words, why do you believe you have the credibility (Ethos) to speak with us about this value? In other words, how do you envision showing character, competence, caring, and charisma?
Comment on why you believe your audience will be open to a speech on this particular value. In other words, contemplate and comment on your classmates’ (your audience’s) psychographics (Section 5.1 of your text).
INDIVIDUAL AND PERSONAL GROWTH- Each person has a set of inside values. If you want to present a speech based on personal growth and individual development, choose one of the following values. In other words, if you pick one of these words, your goal will be to persuade your audience to see the significance of the value and to encourage them to develop the value for personal growth.
