Make your own argument or claim for what the poem communicates.
Write a two page essay in MLA formatting arguing what the poem communicates and how these specific elements contribute to your interpretation of the poem.
This essay must be 100% original work.
This essay must be written in a formal, academic tone. That means no “I,” no “you,” and no contractions. Write as if your audience is a room full of very serious English professors.
Use a few direct quotes from the poem to help support your thesis. Do not use block quotes in a paper this short. I would advise you to quote about once per paragraph, with no more than a line or two of poetry in each quote.
The goal is to make a claim, support that claim with evidence from the poem, and then explain how the evidence supports your claim.
