Policymaking process
As you read in your textbook, ” One of the big divisions in American politics, is that Americans don’t really agree on the appropriate areas for government action (i.e., policymaking). Democrats think there should be health care policy and higher taxes to pay for it; Republicans think there should be no health care policy and lower taxes. Democrats think reproductive choices are none of government’s business; Republicans want policies that limit them.
So…. in your own words, write, at a minimum, a one page response to the following questions. It may be easier to use real life examples (health care, education, immigration, etc. within your responses.
Why is solving public problems so difficult?
Is it the government’s job to help eradicate a public problem like poverty?
If it is the government’s job, then how can the government go about eliminating poverty?
If it is not the government’s job, then whose job is it?
