⦁ Report
The seminar portfolio is a formative assessment that leads eventually to a summary of the module themes in a report of up to 2000 words. You are required to keep a weekly log of the seminar topics that will briefly summarise the literature and debates each week, incorporating your reflections as different concepts and theories come to light. These notes will eventually be compiled, and edited as necessary, into a report that includes a final conclusion.
The report must include notes from at least 3 different weeks, including notes from the field trip, which have been seen by the seminar tutor during the specific seminar.
This report will document your learning experience and development throughout the module. It provides you not only with the highlights of what you have learned, but also allows you to track the development of your thinking. It enables you to raise important questions relating to the literature you have read, the research you have done, and the seminars in which you have participated. It should show those elements that have surprised or impressed you. A possible title for your report is: ‘Reflections on the political economy of development in the 21st century’, but you may discuss alternative titles with your seminar leader.
