Program Development Project – Assignment 3

Purpose
The Power Point Program Development Project addresses the following competencies and practice behaviors (PB):
• Competency 1: PB 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
• Competency 2: PB 1, 3
• Competency 3: PB 1, 2
• Competency 4: PB 1, 2, 3
• Competency 5: PB 1, 2, 3
• Competency 7: PB 2, 3, 4
• Competency 8: PB 1
• Competency 9: PB 1, 2, 4

You are responsible for developing your own social service organization/agency. While this assignment is an opportunity to use creative thinking, you are expected to conduct research and provide evidence for your decisions and assertions at each level of this project. You should expect to use census data, local and national resources to support your plans. Above all, this project should be grounded in reality.

Approval
Proposed area of focus with justification as to the relevance to social work practice and the community is required for my approval prior to the beginning of the project. There will be in class discussions to help students select their topics prior to seeking instructor approval.

Presentation
Each student will make a short presentation (no more than 7 minutes) on his or her Program Development Project in class on May 4 & 11, 2020.

After approval, each student develops a PowerPoint presentation with handouts covering the following areas:
1. Statement of need
Including evidence & research for justification
2. Identified target population for service and justification for selecting this population
3. Anticipated funding sources
4. An organizational flow chart illustrating employees throughout the system
5. An agency mission statement
6. Managerial theory and style utilized within the agency How will it be utilized?
7. Description of organizational staff to be hired in the system
For example: social workers, nurses, administration, counselors, coordinators
8. Description of use of volunteers within the system and how they will be utilized
9. Discussion of partnerships and collaborations with other local organizations including the purpose of such relationships
10. A program evaluation component to evaluate the effectiveness of the organization
11. Describe where the agency will be housed
For example: within another agency, stand-alone structure
12. Agency budget

Please mind that this is a Powerpoint presentation! The assignment needs to be based out of Houston Texas. I have uploaded the grading rubric that all you must follow and address the topic chosen. I will let you know what topic she approves. I have also attached 3 PowerPoint examples that the professor wants us to utilize if you have any questions.
