Project 5 – Malware Deep Dive
Instructions The textbook provides a number of examples of malware. Several of these have been in the wild for quite some time. However, malware is constantly developing and new techniques are being used. The Center for Internet Security provides a list of the Top 10 Malware (the December 2018 list is linked to this post). Select one malware variant from the list. Using at least three additional resources, including one technical article and one news article describe the following: – What does the malware do? – How do victims typically get infected? – How can it be detected? – Any non-technical background information you can find (e.g., where it came from, who is using it, have there been arrests, major victims and consequences) If you have any questions, please email me before Sunday.
