Instructions:
Considering your program’s goals and objectives, describe your program’s overall design and theory. Here, you should introduce your social program by explaining your strategy for participant recruitment (i.e., how will you get individuals/groups in your target population to participate in your program?), what your program will do (e.g., the outputs or activities it will conduct), what the program will need to conduct those activities (e.g., the inputs or resources), and the logic of why you think your program’s specific activities and design should be effective in ameliorating your social problem and achieving the desired outcomes. In this section, it is particularly important to explain why you are making the choices you are making, and your evidence for why you think it will be effective (cite your sources!). Remember to consider your process or administrative activities as well (such as where the program will take place, how often, for how long, who will deliver services, etc.). It is important that you use and cite relevant resources and evidence, particularly when describing your logic. This section will acquaint the reader with what your program plans to do and why we should expect it will be effective. It will lay the groundwork for understanding your program’s comprehensive logic model, which you will complete and attach at the end of your paper. Overall, this section should be approximately 1 ½ to 2 pages.
Remember to integrate ideas, key terms, and information from your course material. I want to see you apply course information! Some students choose to use bold font to highlight key terms or concepts from their course material, although it is not required. It is essential to remember that any time you use a course concept from your book or a supplemental reading (or anytime you use work from another journal article or website) you must appropriately cite it in your text! For example, here is a place where you might bring in a key term from your book.
