Reflective writing about :

The statistical power of a study or the “sensitivity” of a study is based on the probability that the study will be able to differentiate an actual effect from one that just happens (Statistics how to, 2015). It is the probability that the test is proving your hypothesis or rejecting the null hypothesis. The null hypothesis says there is no statistical importance between two variables.

If the power is high, the test will more than likely be valid; the test becomes questionable if the statistical power is low (Statistics how to, 2015). Statistical power is extremely important to a biostatistician, as it helps to prove the hypothesis. Researchers want their studies proven to be valid or their work will not be seen as credible. Statistical power also helps you determine whether or not your sample size is large enough. The relationship between power and the statistical test is in the importance of proving that if there is truly a difference between the variables, that it will be detected. There needs to be an assurance that there is enough statistical power to ensure that differences are found if they are really there.
