Directions

Using the three articles summarized for the bibliography and your discussions, develop a research essay with a direction that utilizes your research and ideas. While generating ideas, further the research by adding a minimum of five new sources. The reference page must have a minimum of eight entries (the three articles summarized in the annotated bibliography and at least five related articles that provide support for the paper’s stated ideas). The research topic is based on the three articles, but does not have to mirror the freewriting. The annotated bibliography entries and the discussions were assigned to provide students both a background and chance to explore thoughts on the topic.
It is your job to come up with a topic for this using the articles and finding further readings. There is a general direction that papers will probably migrate towards, but the three articles were not directly related to one precise topic. That is the purpose of the research. This paper will take time and effort, but is not due immediately. Other assignments will be due in the meantime. Ask questions. You are encouraged to do so. Study the expectations that follow these directions carefully.

MLA Format Expectations

• Use https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_sample_paper.html for an example of how your paper should be set up.
• 5-6 pages of writing (Reference page is not a page of writing)
• Indent the first sentence for each new paragraph
• Give an in-text citation every time you state a fact
• Double-space
• Use Times New Roman, 12-point font
• Avoid grammar and spelling errors
• DO NOT use first and second person language
• Spell out all contractions
• Provide a title page
• Provide MLA Works Cited page with a minimum of eight entries as discussed in the directions
• Format according to MLA guidelines
• Balance the lengths of paragraphs (Papers with one long disorganized paragraph will not be credited)
• Avoid direct quotes

**An Annotated Bibliography is not necessary for this assignment, but you should consider summarizing your research similarly. It will help you find the direction of your research.
Review Setup

Introduction:
Provide one introductory paragraph that gives an overview of what you will be discussing. Use it to both introduce the topic and address the importance of the paper. Give it a focus with a thesis statement that covers the gist of what is to come in the review.

Body:
Use the body of the essay to support your thesis about the overall topic. This section is generally an organized and balanced compilation of subtopics that prove your position on the importance of the research that was outlined in the introduction. Paragraphs should be balanced in length and each paragraph must have a focus that is in support of your thesis.

Conclusion:
Briefly restate the importance of the review and the purpose of the article, then highlight any conclusion you may draw from the research review. Include the concluding implications of the study are a logical direction for future study.

Works Cited Page: Provide an MLA format reference page that provides citations for all sources used as the content of the study.
