Research two images of photographer martin Parr
This research paper will be based on one image or 2 images that you choose from photographer Martin Parr.
You will research the artist online using videos, interviews and reviews on his/her work. Then analyze the formal and conceptual qualities on the work, as well as your emotional response to it.
Structure your paper as follows:
Thesis statement: Start with paragraph that presents your point of view and suggests/hints at your conclusion. What is your premise or topic?
Introduction: Use arguments to write your paper. Select a photograph by an artist and provide arguments as to why that artwork is interesting to you. In one or two paragraphs describe the photograph, subject matter, formal elements, medium, and style. Optional: Write a couple of sentences about relevant biographical facts that might have influence the author to create the work.
Body of the research paper: Explain what was your emotional reaction to the photograph(s), was it a positive or negative reaction? Are there interesting visual elements? Why are they interesting? Are the visual elements a metaphor for a concept that the artist wants to emphasize? What is the concept behind the work?
Conclusion: In one or two paragraphs summarize your arguments and why you think this work is relevant.
(Optional) Citations: Cite at least two sources in your essay. Use quotations (“”) when you cite information that you researched online. A quotation means that you are writing word by word what another author said.
Bibliography: In your essay reference at least ten sources. You don’t need to cite them in quotations. If you write about an idea that you read somewhere else you would reference it.
