SAP Functionality Analysis

Within SAP, Manufacturing activities can be broadly grouped as Make to Stock and Make to Order. They can also be classified into Discrete, Repetitive and Process industries.

Identify an example (E.g. Bread Manufacturing, Ship building etc) for each type of manufacturing and discuss the similarities and differences in SAP manufacturing processes. Identify at least three examples of how these process can be customised as per the requirements of the business.

Discussion

· Explain the manufacturing operations in SAP
· Provide appropriate examples for supporting each type of manufacturing operations
· Identify and analyse the similarities and differences between various manufacturing operations supported by a high-level process diagram that depicts the various activities involved in the manufacturing operations
· Justify the need for customisation and discuss how SAP supports customisation
· Use screenshots from SAP and the relevant transaction codes to support your discussion
· While discussing about customisations, you can explain how two companies manufacturing the same similar product can use this software differently

Conclusion

Draw conclusions from the analysis and relevant literature. Focus on its influence on Supply Chain.
