Answer two question to an article and summary.

Summary: This article shines light on the importance of handwashing to help fight against COVID-19. Washing hands with soap and water is an effective measure along with other regulations in keeping individuals healthy. The Sanitation Learning Hub at the Institute of Development Studies created models for low income communities to participate in hand-washing practices; within their households and in the community. Some of the technologies include Tippy taps, Bucket/container with tap, Conventional tap with/without basin etc. A lot of these technologies take into account diverse users and offer variations in order to make an inclusive environment. A common disadvantage amongst the technologies is the possibility of re-contaminating hands. The more expensive options are better equipped to avoid this occurrence. Yet, for the majority of areas that lack resources, they are still at a disadvantage.
Soap is also mentioned as an important step in the hand washing routine. By just washing your hands alone with water does not fully cleanse your hands of harmful pathogens. Bar soap, liquid soap, and soapy water are some examples that can be used. Yet bar soap is not as ideal as the other options because of the potentiality of passing arounds pathogens. If comercilized soap is unattainable or unaffordable, making soap is then recognized as the next best option. Using laundry detergent that is diluted with an appropriate amount of water is shown in figure 15. Other examples are shown via links in the paper.

Lastly, water supply is taken into account because the majority of these water technologies have to be refilled. Having a water supply that is close will be feasible and will better serve the community. If an area is prone to water scarcity, then drainage of water needs to be considered. Apart from the physical operations of the water technologies, having a community that helps with maintenance are crucial for these technologies’ future presence.

One aspect that was unique is providing encouragement for proper handwashing practices to take place. Art and beautifying an area will lead individuals to wash hands appropriately and on a consistent basis.

Can the hand-washing facilities around Regis benefit from any of the mentioned guidance/advice to better protect the Regis community? Or are all the proper measures taking place.
