States and the law regarding the prohibition on the use of force.

The course is called: Cases in international law
I am to write a research paper on the law regarding the prohibition on the use of force. The direction I am taking is explore how this law get state to comply. My argument is that state do not comply with the law regarding the use of force especially when it is not in their self interest. For instance big states like the US tend to get away with this laws and can carry out some attacks without getting approval or following the rules of the law. another argument that can be made is that these laws can sometimes be open to interpretation or it is quite vague like article 51 of the UN charter on self defence. You would be using Realism as a theoretical framework to make the arguments. another argument is the law does not include new forms of attack like terrorism, cyber attacks etc. also, I would like for you to include some cases i.e an attack that has occurred which was carried about in the state’s interest to support the arguments. You can also come up with other arguments as well. I would attach an outline that I made for the class to help guide you and some outline from my prof. The citation should be Chicago style and you would use foot notes as well. the pages is 17-20 but I would prefer 18 pages but if you do exceed its fine. also, the written work should be within those pages then the reference page comes after meeting the page limit. The sources to be used should be peer reviewed academic sources. So it can be books or journals as along as it is peer reviewed. No website is allowed, the UN website can be used for reference if needed. The number of sources should be at least 10 sources. This is a final paper worth 40% please if you get confused or need any help let me know so I can assist.
