Studies show that a vast majority of women seeking treatment for substance use disorders report a history of trauma and abuse. There are many complex factors that contribute to this unfortunate reality. Issues related to gender and culture, shame, stigma, family, community, and limited resources are just a few of the many factors contributing to the links between trauma and addiction among female populations. The specific cultural and psychological challenges facing female trauma survivors often present barriers to recovery that require trauma informed gender responsive treatment interventions. In this webinar, they will explore the links between gender, trauma, and addiction. They will not only address the particular needs of female trauma survivors seeking treatment for substance use disorders, but will assist them in breaking free of the shame and stigma that often contribute to relapse. They will explore effective approaches in creating trauma informed gender responsive treatment modalities that allow women to feel safe, connected, and empowered to thrive and flourish on their limitless journey toward healing and wholeness.
