Your goal for this portion of the paper is to become familiar with a communication theory that will be examined in this research paper. Your task for this portion is to write a summary of that communication theory (selected from the list below). The following describes the process for completing this task.

Summarize the theory you chose. Be sure to cite and reference sources to help support your description of the theory.
Excellent papers do not rely upon textbooks to describe the theory. Rather, look for other sources that can be used to describe the theory. For example, the Encyclopedia of Communication Theory available online through Pfau Library is an excellent source.
Read and incorporate recent articles that cited the theory.
Briefly describe the study.
Average papers cite at least two scholarly sources
Recent means articles published within the last 7-10 years
Write about two potential topics that may take advantage of this theory.
Describe two topics that could be researched using this theory.
Do not include research questions or hypotheses at this point – those will be part of portion B.
Find competing theories if there are and summarize them or play devil’s advocate by arguing against the theory you selected
