TIMED ESSAY

*Instructions:
This exam is a timed assessment. You will have 100 minutes total to complete this essay. Please be prepared to sit down for 100 minutes and complete this exam from start to finish; make sure you have no distractions. This exam is also a Force Completion assignment, which means that once you open it, you must finish it in the allotted time. It is extremely important that you do not close the browser window once you have started the exam!
Keep in mind that this is a “low-stakes” exam–that is, since it’s a timed writing assignment, you do not have the luxury of the writing process to edit and polish the finished product. Rest assured that I will keep this in mind as I’m grading. I am looking specifically for your thoughtful responses and evidence that you understand how to structure an essay. See the Rubric included in this module for how these will be scored–we have been working on these skills all semester, so you should be confident in your ability to complete this exam in the given time frame.
Don’t worry about MLA format for this exam, as you’ll be typing into a text box.
An important note on grading:
While the rubric provided is what the English Division uses to score the essays for Gen Ed, you will not receive a traditional letter grade based on this rubric. It is only provided here as a guideline for a strong essay to give you an idea of what we expect to see.
That said, if you complete this essay fully, thoughtfully, to the best of your ability, you will receive full credit. Any deductions will be based purely on a lack of effort. While you may not need the full 100 minutes to complete the exam, I will be able to see how much time you spent on it, and I will also be looking for fully developed ideas and basic proofreading for minimal errors.
